Employee volunteerism is a powerful way to impact communities. Petro-Canada recognizes and encourages volunteerism by providing financial support where employees and retirees are actively involved in non-profit organizations. In 2008, 814 grants totalling over $305,000 were made to support the volunteer work of employees and retirees.

Through year-round workplace volunteer projects called Petro-Cares Days, the Company supports employee teams who lend their skills and energy to a variety of projects. Whether it’s painting fences, building playgrounds or feeding the hungry, the Company recognizes that employees have much to give and benefit from participating in community life in these ways. In 2008, 104 community projects benefited from our employee workplace teams, who provided more than 3,300 hours of service to their communities during working hours.
