Educational Support

Today’s labour needs are a significant challenge for our industry, as we rely upon skilled people to bring our projects to reality. To help meet the need for skilled workers, Petro-Canada encourages students toward careers in the oil and gas-related disciplines. Whether through technology and trades routes or through university studies, addressing labour needs is the key focus of our educational partnerships.

Some of our current partnerships are:

Women Building Futures Petro-Canada Training Centre

In May 2008, Petro-Canada announced a $1.5 million investment in this facility and a student award program to encourage the participation of women in the trades workforce.

Northern Alberta Institute of Technology (NAIT)/Petro-Canada Millwright Centre, Edmonton

Three hundred additional students are enrolled in the technology and trades millwright faculty as a result of Petro-Canada’s $1.7 million donation in 2006.

Scholarships and Awards

This awards program is proactively implemented by Petro-Canada in post-secondary institutions, consistent with our recruitment strategy.
