At Petro-Canada, we value diversity and strive to have a workforce that reflects the communities in which we work. Petro-Canada is committed to providing its employees with a thriving and rewarding career and to creating opportunities in which Aboriginal Peoples can be successful.
The number of employees and contractors Petro-Canada hires is constantly growing. While the number of Aboriginal employees we have hired has increased, as a percentage of a growing workforce, self-declared Aboriginal Peoples represent about 1% of our total employees. More importantly, about 12% of the employees at our Fort Hills project are self-declared Aboriginal Peoples.
The Aboriginal Lynx Program
Petro-Canada is one of the founding companies and supporters of the Aboriginal Lynx program. This program is designed to meet the need for direct "links" between Aboriginal post-secondary students looking for employment experience (or full-time work after graduation) and employers who are seeking skilled individuals from an Aboriginal background. The program includes partnerships with eight select post-secondary institutions across Western Canada.
