NOTE: As a company operating in North America where there are numerous regulations addressing human rights issues and very few instances of human rights abuses, Suncor has not seen the need to develop an additional and comprehensive human rights policy, training and monitoring system or to screen suppliers for human rights.
Suncor's discrimination and harassment policies outline our employees' rights and obligations for building a harassment-free workplace. Our Aboriginal Affairs Policy recognizes the unique status, history and culture of Aboriginal peoples.
Should human rights issues arise, they are addressed by the senior vice president of human resources and communications in accordance with applicable legislative standards and the principles of the Fundamental Human Rights Conventions of the International Labour Organization (ILO).
Suncor's environment, health and safety and supply chain groups are working to develop a comprehensive system for tracking our contracts and the sustainability performance of our suppliers as part of our company-wide integration system. Currently, we do not review the human rights performance of our suppliers.
