Data includes regulatory fines related to environmental, health and safety contraventions paid during the stated year. The fines paid from 2005 to 2008 are as follows:

• 2005 — In August 2005, the British Columbia Ministry of Forest fined Suncor for non-compliance on a well-site related to road design, layout, and unauthorized Crown timber damage.
• 2006 — In September 2006, the British Columbia Oil & Gas Commission fined Suncor for withdrawing water from the wrong location near a well-site.
• 2007 — In March 2007, Alberta Sustainable Resource Development (ASRD) fined Suncor $5000 for unauthorized use of public land whereby Suncor was issued a Temporary Field Authorization that had expired in 2005. Suncor did not have authority from the Department to access the land and as a result 4 km of trail were disturbed during spring break-up.
• 2008 — In April 2008, Alberta Energy fined Suncor $50,000 for drilling beyond the allowable depth into undisposed crown rights. Suncor was also fined $1500 by ASRD in November 2008 for failure to address brush disposal and erosion control on a pipeline project.
