Through research and interactions with our stakeholders, we've heard that Suncor needs to be more visible and reach out to people, keeping them informed and involved in our business.

As stakeholder expectations have evolved, so have we. Suncor regularly communicates with stakeholders near its operations through a spring and fall newsletter. In Your Community, a double-sided colour broadsheet newsletter updates approximately 86,000 stakeholders near our oil sands, refining and marketing, natural gas and renewable energy businesses on corporate and business unit specific news.

The newsletter is distributed as an insert in community newspapers twice per year, and provides consistent coverage about industry issues, Suncor's operations, our people, and investments in local communities. Articles are accompanied by graphs, photos and images which help give context to the stories.

Reaction to the report has been positive. Telephone and feedback forms received indicated that 70 percent of respondents felt the newsletter was valuable, with 10 percent feeling it was very valuable. Suncor continues to evaluate the tool on an ongoing basis, introducing improvements, including offering the most recent newsletter on an electronic subscription basis to stakeholders.
