Suncor recognizes the infrastructure pressures oil sands development places on communities in northern Alberta. We are a key player with the Oil Sands Developers Group (OSDG), formally known as the Regional Issues Working Group. The OSDG has been instrumental in working with local stakeholders, including the Regional Municipality of Wood Buffalo to identify local infrastructure needs and encourage the Alberta government to advance long-term planning and funding.

Suncor is particularly active on the critical issue of developing more housing in the Wood Buffalo region, including low-cost housing. Brenda Erskine, Suncor's director of stakeholder and community relations, oil sands, also serves as chair of the Wood Buffalo Housing and Development Corporation and chair of the OSDG's housing committee. Brenda is also a member of the Community Development Advisory Board for the Government of Alberta, Housing & Urban Affairs.
