In March 2009, Petro-Canada Lubricants launched the EcoSia brand, a suite of products from its current line-up that have environmentally friendly characteristics. The EcoSia line will make it easier for Petro-Canada lubricant customers to identify those products that meet their environmental goals without compromising performance. The product offering spans a diverse range of applications and customer segments.

“We developed the EcoSia line because there was a need in the marketplace to identify those lubricants products we manufacture that have environmentally friendly attributes,” stated Randy Koenig, vice president Lubricants. “There is increasing public enthusiasm and need for environmentally friendly lubricants, so we wanted our customers to be aware that many of our products, that they already use, are environmentally responsible without compromising product performance.”

The EcoSia line-up includes lubricants and fluids for forestry, agriculture, drilling, mining, construction, food processing and general manufacturing, and encompasses products from some of Petro-Canada’s existing brands, including, but not limited to:

• ENVIRON™ hydraulic fluids
• PUREDRILL™ drilling mud base fluids
• CALFLO™ specialty heat transfer fluids
• LUMINOL™ electrical insulating fluids
• Select PURITY™ FG food grade lubricants
• Select COMPRO™ compressor fluids
• Select PETROGLIDE™ saw guide oils

To be included under the EcoSia brand, the products had to meet criteria based on internationally recognized testing and classification methods. All EcoSia products are classified as “Inherently or Readily Biodegradable” based on Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development guidelines and “Not Environmentally Toxic,” according to the United Nations Globally Harmonized System (GHS).

The EcoSia brand will provide Petro-Canada Lubricants with an opportunity to target a wide variety of market segments that have a growing need for products that meet their performance needs and environmental goals.
